Hello my dear writer!

Thank you for whatever you write, I am sure that I will love it and I plan to comment early (in ET not UST) on December 25th, which may not be early for you though (apologies, if so). I'm so pleased that we matched on a fandom and I hope that my prompts inspire you, but if you go in a different direction, I'll be okay with that as well!

General Likes: I generally like the fics I read to be on the fluffy or smutty side, but these prompts call for some angst. I can deal with some pining, obliviousness, or wound tending, but serious torture, character death or degrading language take me out of a story. I love these characters and fic can be wish fulfillment and I wish for them to be happy! (Or as happy as canon allows for some of these couples/characters)

I like time loops/time travel and finding love within tragedies/doomed narratives. I love characters that try their best, even or especially given the circumstances. I like stubborn characters bending for things they find important. I like missing scenes and future speculation and callbacks and deep conversations on philosophy (as most of these characters have seen death and war and been dealt terrible hands - as someone with depression I like when characters find a way to still get up in the morning and find things to smile and laugh about, like hope and love and reason to keep going). I am okay with baby/kid fic as two of my requested characters are mothers.

Do Not Wants: suicide, self harm, fat-phobia, homophobia, racism, transphobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, rape/non-con, killing or torturing a female character to get a reaction from a male character

( FANDOMS UNDER THE CUT )

comments
Hello dear writer!

I am sure I will love whatever you come up with, because it was written in one of the below fandoms/pairings. I will do my best to comment early on the day of reveals with details of what I loved about the story you've written me (if I'm delayed until later in the day, I apologize). Thank you for offering to write one of the below, you're a peach! I hope I've inspired you with my prompts, but you obviously don't have to follow them if you have another idea.

General Likes: hand holding, hugs, gestures of support, kisses, flirty banter, fluff and smut, competent characters, messy misunderstandings that are resolved eventually, friends to lovers, men looking at the woman they love like they hung the moon, established relationships but also the (requited) pining that sometimes predates a relationship, sleepy snuggles, domesticity, and love epiphanies/grand gestures. I adore tropes like "only one bed" or "pretending to be a couple" that make two people have to re-evaluate things in their head when clean lines become blurred or something is said that puts their relationship into a whole new light. I'm so-so on emotional hurt-comfort as I don't generally want any of the characters I love to be seriously anguished or tortured for a long period of time but light angst and physical wound-tending or comforting a temporarily sick character is the sweet spot.

DNWs: suicide, suicide ideation (a joke like "well, I'll just kill myself then" is fine, but serious planning is not preferred), self harm (self-sabotage like avoiding people is fine, but harm like cutting or other scarring acts is not preferred), fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia, antisemitism, rape/noncon, killing or torturing a female character to get a reaction from a male character, infidelity, terminal illness or permanent death of the requested characters (having Character A assume or hear (mistakenly) that Character B is dead is okay if it's revealed that Character B is not actually dead and there is a reunion)

( Fandoms below the cut )

comments

Hello dear writer!

Thank you for offering one of the below fandoms! I hope you enjoy writing as much as I'm sure to enjoy reading your finished product. I don't have a lot of stylistic or writing DNWs, you can choose any narrative style, tense, point of view and play around with them all and so long as you tried I'll be over the moon because I'll be getting a fic form one of the below fandoms!! I will do my best to comment promptly on the day that assignments go out so you know how much I adored your fic!

DO NOT WANTS: suicide, suicide ideation, self harm, alcoholism, fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, non con.

GENERAL LIKES: romance, smut, (but genfic is okay too if you don't write shippy fic), women with agency, romance, messy relationships, genuine partnerships, men who clearly adore the women they are with, bi heroes and heroines, romance, female friendships,

Fandoms:

comments

Dear Yuletide Writer:

I have been miraculously blessed to love every single thing that's been written for me each time I've participated in Yuletide. I have no doubt that whatever you write will also be loved by me, simply because you've written it with sharing in mind! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing me something! You're already a rock star! (Don't worry, I will still comment my thanks again on A03 after reading, that wasn't the last you'll hear from me)

GENERAL WANTS:

I love female characters and when they are messy and complicated and when they drive the plot forward with agency. I like relationships built on friendships and respect and couples who can laugh with each other, even though they endure hardship.

I like when people clearly adore one another and recognize how awesome their partner is as a person. I love consensual established relationships but I also like that flirty phase when two people clearly have crushes and all this sexual tension is between them but are too awkward to act on it. I prefer when love is shown through a gesture or inside-joke that is unique to the couple. Kissing (and smut) is also welcome (but obviously not mandatory)! You being comfortable with the story you're writing is paramount!

DO NOT WANTS:

I'm going through a bit of a dark patch and I'm going to request that you not mention suicide, suicidal ideation and any death by the cutting of wrists, hanging, or overdose. I'm also going to ask that you not have any of my requested characters commit acts of grievous self harm. I love them so much and don't want to see them hurting like that. I also do not enjoy dub-con or non-con. Even jokes about suicide, rape or self-harm will likely take me out of your story and I'd so like to be transported wholly into the world you're creating.

REQUESTS:

1. Healer (Young-shin and Jung-hoo)

I love that these two are so tender and gentle with each other, not just physically, but emotionally too. They tread lightly (sometimes due to past trauma) but mostly out of respect for the other person. They TRUST each other and take turns building each other up when they doubt themselves. It's such a great relationship and I'd love anything more between them post-show timeline. I'm also a BIG fan of how important investigative journalism is to the show, both in the flashbacks and present time. Sure, Jung Hoo can beat up bad guys, but if you want to put them away, you need the skills that Young shin teaches him about exposing dark evils to the light of the world. I would really appreciate a story that incorporates how they go forward using investigative journalism to take down more corrupt officials and expose other stories that are harming people. They are a badass team and I think they both enjoy helping people in this way.

Here is my Healer tag on my tumblr (which is mostly very outdated, please do not look too closely) and you'll see that I often compare them to Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman because they are maybe my first ship as a kid and I love the parallels between the secret identity subplot.

2. Mythic Quest (Ian Grimm and Poppy Li)

I adore this show and how in the first season we see Ian open up to Poppy and be vulnerable (I do not believe he consciously manipulated her to stay, it was just a happy benefit) and we saw Poppy's vulnerable side in the Quarantine episode. I love that Ian recognized that he needed Poppy as a fully fledged partner and asked her to scratch her name on the beam. I loved watching them bicker and fight and re-evaluate each other in season 2 and we saw that they truly need each other to be the best, most creative version of themselves. What will they create together now that they are aware of how much they need the other person to be a good boss and great game designer? What does their future hold with Hera (Or whatever name they come up with together for this new game) It's okay if other members from Mythic Quest show up, but I'd really like the focus to be on Poppy and Ian's relationship.

REAL TALK: Do I ship them? Do I see them just as friends? I HAVE NO IDEA!!! (although, as of writing this, I am leaning a bit toward shipping them together, it's this LOOK Ian gives Poppy as the last frame in season 2. No, wait, it starts earlier, in 2x02 when he got goosebumps! She inspired him! That little mess of a human being is a Boss (a high compliment from Ian!) and it's a subtle "I'm impressed that you're a genius and therefore a little bit turned on that you manipulated us" look; but in 2x09 it turns into an "I'm content to just sit here and watch you be a genius" look) after he's just presented her with her canvas and brush.

But whatever dynamic you write will be great, you don't have to smush their faces together if you see them as only platonic friends and the opposite holds true if you do ship them. I will simply be happy that there is a story about them because there is so little fic for them!!!!

3. 12 Monkeys (James Cole and Cassandra Railly)

OH WOW. HOW DO I EVEN START WITH THIS SHOW?! I love it and it's crazy paradoxes and Primaries and time loops and telling fate to suck it to save your family. I love that you CAN alter history, that saving someone is what changed the plague, not all the killing that went before. I like that characters lose hope at times but that they always find it again, I love the callbacks and flashbacks and that people take happiness where they can find it. I love that the only world that ever meant a damn to Cole was the one with Cassie in it. I love that Cassie wears her watch at all times and that she went back for Cole in 1957 because she didn't want to be afraid anymore. I liked that they had rough times and fought, that it wasn't all sunshine and daisies, it made the scene where they exchange gifts feel all the more special because it was earned over time.

AS for what I want, I'd love exploration of Cassie and Cole's relationship through time. Not so much their time apart from one another or before they met each other. I'm interested in the couple we saw glimpses of in seasons one and then finally had realized in the last episode of season two. (They looked so happy in 1959 *cries*)

Look, full disclosure, I'm currently watching the show FOR THE FIRST TIME. I haven't read any fic yet because I'm afraid of being spoiled, ditto looking on tumblr for fun gifsets to reblog. I've been squeeing and screencapping on my private and locked twitter with a small group of friends who have also watched the show or are also watching for the first time. I am currently on S3 BUT!!! I PROMISE I will have watched the entire show by the time stories are revealed so write basically whatever you want with Cole and Cassie and without worrying of spoiling the silly girl who just jumped into this fandom.

comments

Good job, 12/12/12! You've revived one of my favourite websites (where I met so many friends!!!) and you had LJ doing everything in it's power to stop you (UGH, wtf are those new profile pages?)

For a second I thought this would be an entry where I would actually TALK! about STUFF! but no,
I am boring and below is my November-in-review list. I have all these THOUGHTS about Skyfall and BOND and HAVEN and HART OF DIXIE and ELEMENTARY. But, alas (earwax) tumblr came back too soon and I'll probably just let my feelings air out in a tag spiral under a gifset.

(BUT YOU WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER FOR ICONS AND FIC READING, LJ! At least I can always change the style so I'm reading fic on a white background. Sometimes with tumblr, I copy the entire thing into a word document because who can read blue words on a bright pink screen?)

( NOVEMBER IN REVIEW )

I am done almost all of my Christmas shopping but the Christmas party I'm hosting is drawing near and I'm slowly getting more anxious?
01. Taking a cue from Mindy Kaling, I'm thinking of donating to a charity for my birthday. At first I was thinking of donating to the Red Cross or Planned Parenthood or WWF, but I'm willing to donate to smaller charities - particularly Women/Youth/LGBT Shelters or other worthwhile causes I haven't even heard of. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO PITCH YOUR PERSONAL CAUSE THAT IS CLOSE TO YOUR HEART (note: this isn't going to be a big donation by any stretch but I feel like it's time for me to give back after years of being privileged enough to get presents my whole life).

02. So my friends brought up today the comments on cbc.ca and how their minds are blown by the opinions of idiots and prejudices ect. My thoughts: 1)never read the comments, 2)how are you shocked? These are the people who voted in a Harper-led Conservative government. These are the people who voted Rob Ford in as mayor of Toronto. They exist, they're vocal and we can't ignore them just to keep this outdated image of our country.

Disillusionment in our 'great' nation is the only safety net against rage bombs. Not to say people should be apathetic, but if we are less surprised when we are disappointed, (WHA? CANADA IS NOT PERFECT? IMPOSSIBLE! I will spend all my time yelling about this and whose problem it is instead of talking about the real issue you've brought up!) then we might actually be willing to do something to fix our nation. Something can only be fixed if people acknowledge that it's broken and Canada's certainly not without flaws.

...uh, and on that wonderfully positive note: happy belated 145th birthday, Canada! I hope we fix you up real soon!

03. They are making a Maleficent movie (!!) and I am ecstatic about this due to a childhood love affair where I had a striped staff with a snake head at the grip and role played as the evil queen and wrote out a play in large print in one of those old school notebooks. I even read it out loud to my family and they were kind enough to humour me. I also hear that Disney is working on a twelfth princess movie that is supposed to be based on The Snow Queen, a fairy tale I'm not overly familiar with except for staring at the beautiful illustrations on a copy I once had as a kid. Although it appears that they are making a bunch of changes so it's only very loosely based on the real story. Either way - yay more princesses and villians and ladies in general!

04. coming up next - my monthly roundup of june!
